Christmas at the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center - Maui

Queen Ka'ahumanu
Walking through the mall at this time of year is a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit, especially when the weather outside isn't frightful, but warm and sunny.
Yes here in the mall I can even pretend that outside, snow is softly falling on the Palm trees. Wouldn't that be pretty? Not that I'm longing for snow or anything, but it is just that all my life I have associated Christmas with snow.  For now though I am really just happy to be warm, and 'Dreamin of a White Christmas'.

Why isn't Santa wearing shorts? He must be pretty hot in that suit

Letter to Santa
Do you believe in Santa Claus?  If you had met Santa when he was On Vacation in Maui last year I think you would believe.  Would love to hear your comments on this.

  1. Mele Kalikimaka, Julie, and mahalo for your Maui Christmas impressions.

Well, Big Islanders enjoy a bit of an advantage regards the missing snow on the other islands for a Hawaii white Christmas. Christmas time is when Mauna Kea (White Mountain) and Mauna Loa are covered in snow. The views of snow-covered Mauna Kea against the blue Hawaii skies are memories for a lifetime!

For those Maui visitors who want to come over for a stargazing visit on Mauna Kea Summit, make sure the access road to the Visitors' Center is open. Actually, today 12/20 it's closed because of snowy and icy conditions according to Mauna Kea weather channel. No worries though, the skies will be clearing and Hawaii visitors can enjoy a WHITE Christmas.

I think on one of those clear Hawaiian days, Maui visitors will be able to enjoy glimpses of our Big Island snow covered volcanoes as well. Aloha, Pua

  2. Aloha Pua and many mahalos for your comment. A couple of years ago it snowed on Haleakala and we could see it from our place in Kihei. That is as close as we have come to snow on Maui. It would be fun to go to the Big Island and see the snow on Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.
